Distinctive Designs is thrilled to announce that one of our exclusive designs has been featured as 1 of 5 finalists from across the country in the Canadian Home Builders’ Association SAM Awards. To be commended for our work at the national level has been a humbling yet overwhelming experience, and to see our designs acknowledged as leading our industry is exciting.
This space was transformed from disjoint and dysfunctional into a space that is perfectly suited to the lifestyle and needs of our client. Upon our first entrance to this space we noted a major issue: the configuration of island stools to the fridge and oven prevented a usability and restricted the homeowners to either using their kitchen for function or entertaining. This was out of line with how they like to live, and as natural entertainers we saw opportunity everywhere in this space.
The goals included an open concept space with continuity throughout the living and dining rooms that encouraged interactivity and comfort. With a heavy reassessment, we removed an existing second kitchen, glass block wall and re-engineered the load-bearing walls to create this ultimate entertaining space. Our clients are now enjoying family dinners, holiday events and even game-day parties in their new and rejuvenated space.
The traditional character of the home is honoured with modern flare in this unique space. Cherry wood cabinets are accented with natural stone that provides depth on the walls. A perfect blend of old and new to create something truly outstanding.
